Default Question about planning a trip to Acapulco for those who have been there...?

Want to know if it is cheaper to fly into somewhere in central Mexico or something then take a bus to Acapulco instead of flying straight to Acapulco? Also, what places offer the cheapest rates for flights and hotels (there are three of us going and we're students so we're on a budget)? Any other info or tidbits you can offer me? Thanks so much!

often for someone who doesn't know a lot about mexico, it's worth the extra money to fly straight into the city you are visiting. the expense and emotional cost of getting taxi, getting to the bus station, finding the right schedule, buying the ticket, etc... is more than simply getting a flight that will take you the whole way. i recommend aol.com, travelocity, and expedia. i have always been more than happy with aol's travel services. acapulco is kind of dangerous right now. have you thought about puerto vallarta? often flights there are cheap, especially if you are coming from the west coast.

I've done it both ways, you just have to figure out what's cheaper for you basedo n the numbers, here's some things to take into consideration.Flying to Mexico City and catching the bus:1.) Flight to Mexico City $???.002.) Taxi from Airport to the South Terminal $40.00+/-3.) Bus (executive class) from Mexico City to Acapulco $50.004.) Taxi from Acapulco Bus Station to Hotel $25.00Mind you, you also have to take in consideration your return trip/cost to Mexico City... =O)Flying to Acapulco:1.) Flight to Acapulco $???.00 (usually alot more expensive than to Mexico City).2.) Taxi from Acapulco airport to hotel $35.00 (airport is VERY far from the hotel zone). And vice versa on your way back...Hope this helps, below is a link to the bus company (has the option in English too).P.S. With the way things are going down over there, you're better off going somewhere else. I'm sure you'll be ok, but have backup plans... too many natives, not much natural beauty, it was a big name back in the day (25-30 years ago), not anymore...
