There are hotels, guest houses and B&B's... and some which call themselves one when they are actually another.. Cheapest "hotels" in London would be found in the less fashionable areas such as Earls Court. The Garden View Hotel is normally available for around 50GBP/night, and if you book early enough you could get a room at the EasyHotel chain for 25GBP/night. For cheaper than that, you could look to staying at a hostel like the St Christophers chain where you'd only spend around 18/GBP night but would be sharing a room!Remember.. In London you do tend to get what you pay for, so don't expect any bells and whistles.. just expect a bed!

A couple more pounds will buy you a night at several other hostels under 15 pounds. Really these are hostels more than hotels.Hotels in the 2 star bracket start at around 15 pounds per room per night, but they are fairly basic. Try the Kensington Edwardian @ http://www.cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/United-Kingdom/London/South-Kensington/Kensington-Edwardian-Hotel-London-L42798R.htm which kicks for around this price.If these don't satisfy your curiosity try looking through the other listings - i think you'll not beat them on price.
