My buddy will be off to USA+CANADA in a few days and he'll be travelling through the country for several months:

BOSTON-CANADA- CHICAGO- WASHINGTON- CAROLINA-ATLANTA-FLORIDA-NEW ORLEANS-TEXAS-LAS VEGAS-CALIFORNIA-COLORADO-NYC

I'd appreciate any kind of useful advice such as:

2-what avoid
3-worthwhile visits
4-general advices
5-places to have fun
6-transports
7- weather/clothes
