Default Are enterprise rent-a-cars a bad buy?

My car might be totalled and I noticed enterprise sold their cars on their website.. They seem to have some nice dealsI saw a 2006 Grand Prix that I really liked for $13000 which is a really good deal (I am in the car business). I have always had heard horror stories of what people do to rentals, but this was in their large category and not a cheap beater like a midsized or economy car. Plus it is low enough for me add a factory extended warranty.anyone else have any experience with these?

All you can do is look the car over for signs of abuse. Have the car inspected to make sure it's mechanically solid. If it's got extremely low miles I'd say maybe there were mechanical issues (or a wreck). Why else would they be retiring it so early.Budget does the same thing.

If you can get a warranty which covers everything that might have been used too heavily during its rental life (including the suspension), you may have a good deal. The downside of ex-rental vehicles is that people do things in them that they would never do in their own cars (I've been guilty of this too).Â* The upside is that fleet vehicles get regular attention from mechanics, which owners sometimes forget.

After 30 years in the business and now retired, I 100% think the best buys are 1 year old rentals, for a detailed explanation go to this link on my website http://www.usedcartips.org/RENTACAR.html

I wouldn't buy anything from a rent-a-car place.....it's the larger car category cars that people rent in groups (because everyone chips in, it isn't that expensive) and act like mad men in, doing brake torks, spinning dougnuts, teaching someone to drive standard trans......at least me and my friends do...why would we want to wreck our own vehicles......
