Default I'm going to visit canberra next month. Can anyone recommend car/accomodaton?

i'm just staying one night, and I'd like to find:1) Cheap but decent and comfortable accommodation, approx $100/nite around city area? even homestay is ok...2) Cheap car rental that rents to provisionals under 25, above 23yo?thanks heaps.. prefer local businesses to big businesses...thanks for wotif recommendations.. been using it for some time but nothing's decent in canberra and what's decent is not within my budget...

As far as I know - there isn't ANY accomm that you would consider "decent and comfortable " but any less than $120 a night around the city area. Anything less than $100 you may have to go to Queanbeyan which is 20 minutes drive out of the city.there are a few car rental places but no sure for provisional under 25/above 23. You need to ring them direct. You will need do the leg work and look into the yellow pages for what you want. you could be lucky.Sorry can't be of much help here.

Actually, the YHA is quite nice. In my opinion, driving around Canberra is horrible and it's much easier to walk. Unless you are going beyond the reaches of public transport, don't bother. I'm not even sure if anyone hires cars out to under 25's. If they do, you'll have to pay a large surcharge.
