computer is slow need some help? I know this is going to sound rude, but you went to great lengths to tell us what was happening, but you forgot to tell us what browser you're using. The most important thing! Most of the things written above should help, but it may not resolve the problem. IF (and I say IF because you didn't tell us). If you recently upgraded your browser, IE or Firefox, and IF you're running a firewall other than Windows Firewall, it's possible that the firewall thinks something has gone wrong and it may be blocking the browser. Do this anyway: Go to the firewall settings and set the browser(s) permissions to "ASK" or untick them. Do not make then crosses (or NO) just make the permissions "unknown". Now run the browser again, when the fireall asks for permission to connect to the web, click yes. Now the firewall will fully accept the browsers protocols which may have changed from the previous installation. I had exactly the same problem as you. Yahoo Answers was the worst, but any site with advertising that was taken from a third party site would play up. I finally resolved the problem by reloading Windows XP, a task that shouldn't be taken lightly. I wish you luck because this problem drove me insane and I consider myself very proficient when it comes to computers.Go easy with Hijack This. Read the warnings on the site and in the program. It can make your computer crash very easily. Get others to check your log files, don't assume things can be removed willy nilly. |
