Think about it. We connect our economy w/ the Euro. Then we wouldn't have to worry about the exchange rate when traveling to Europe and elsewhere we would have a huge advantage...just an idea

That would leave the pound (and maybe the swiss franc) as the only feasible alternative investment currencies. Could be good.

Are you talking about the UK? To be honest, how often do you go to Europe? We have a favourable exchange rate, our own national bank and a currency that is the oldest in the world still in use. I wouldn't feel comfortable with interest rates being set in another country and as we're already losing our national identity, giving away our currency would just make it far worse.

Uhm, NO. First, during the conversion we'd have to buy euros at the par exchange rate which means we'd get a whole lot fewer euros. Secondly, having our own currency allows us to devalue our national debt...this is a huge benefit. The scenario you describe, while it may sound simple, is much more complex than I think you are aware.

Personally, I think it is a great idea. Originally, we did not want to use European money in America, because it bore the faces of the crown, which patriosts were trying to deny. We have created our own bubble in America and we can't hide in it forever. We are the only country in the world with their own measurement systems, and currency as well. Our economy is greatly suffering for many reasons, and the exchange rates of the US Dollar have even fallen beneath Canada's. Ironically, the original exchange rate up until recently was about .75 american cents to every 1 canadian dollar. If we switch to the Euro, like most of the rest of the world, then maybe our exchange rates will not suffer as much. Frankly, I think the world should all unify our currencies.
