Default Driving age in europe..?

Im from the uk and travelling around europe in the summer, i was hoping to share driving with a friend but im only 18, they said you have to be 21 to drive in europe..is that true? so far ive searched and it says you have to be 18/17 (different for different countrys) but I'm still not sure about it. I know I cant rent a car. Im just really confused!! someone help!! xoxyeah thats if you learn to drive in that country. apparently you need to be 21 if you are from a different country - you know, different signs, opposite side of the road.

You answered your own question. It varies from country to country and is usually 17 or 18. The age is definitely no more than 18 to drive a normal car in all of the European Union.
