Anyone out there, who knows Wilmington NC well? PLEASE HELP!?

Hey there! Im an Au Pair from South Africa and want to travel to Wilmington nc, over christmas and new years! i'm travelling ALONE and is wondering if Im wasting my time going? Can I have fun alone there? I am 24... please guys, help me out...!!!

well first off it will be cold on the coast during the month of December. Out of all places on the East Coast...wondering what made u decide on Wilmington, NC? ((just out of curiousity)) :-) I live about 4hrs from Wilmington, NC..haven't been there much but I have been..and usually all i do there is go layout on the Beach.

Actually, I would suggest that maybe you travel to Charleston, South Carolina over your vacation break. I think that there is a lot more to do for someone your age and traveling alone. People are unbelievably friendly so you won't feel like an outsider or lonely. Good Luck!

It'll be cold there and not much activity since it's not beach season.

Wilmington is nice. December avg high is 59, daily low is 37. If that helps you. I was born and lived there until I was 22. There are plenty of places to go and do things that time of year. It would help if you knew someone but if get a hotel room just stay in downtown, there will be more going on there than at the beaches. New Years is fun in the downtown bar scene.
