Spanish Visa for South African?

Hi my mother (who is S.African) is planning a trip to U.K. in Feb for one month, and I would love to take her over to Spain for a holiday - is it possible to apply to Spanish Embassy in London when she arrives in the U.K. I would rather book the holiday to Spain nearer the date. Heard she has to apply for visa in S. Africa but they want proof of travel etc., Please help!!! Thank you.

I personally have done this before. I got my visa to enter Europe in London. There are two things though. She will have to prove she has enough money on her to support her stay and I got a nasty black stamp in my passport that says that future visas will have to be obtained in my country of origin, meaning South Africa. The next time you apply for a visa then the people see this stamp and ask some extra questions. At the moment Spain is the most lenient in granting visas this way.
