Traveling to Tanzania/Kenya? Please don't wear "tropical tanks and tube tops" to Africa!! Whenever you travel, *always* try to dress the way the locals do. Not only is it a sign of respect, but it's a way to keep yourself from being assaulted or worse. Wear long skirts, long (knee-length) shorts (neutral colours - not "tropical" or beach-wear) and tshirts or loose tank tops. (No spaghetti straps and nothing really tight-fitting.) You can buy appropriate clothing at any travel store. They have shorts and tshirts that are breathable in the heat. I recommend picking up the Lonely Planet Tanzania guide, LP Kenya and/or LP East Africa. There are lots of tips in there on how to dress as well as numerous other helpful things. LP guides have helped me more than I can say in all of my travels and are easily the best guides on the market. |
