Do you think Disney Channel is a good influence on kids?

Disney Channel is really 'clean'. They have positive messages in all their shows/movies/music, but their depictions of the world aren't necessarily the most realistic. Is it good for kids to see good examples, or are they setting hopeful kids up for disaster?

In the morning until about 2pm, after that, it can be geared a little more towards teens. But for the toddlers, yes I think it does deliver a good message.

It's entertaining for kids, which is something, but, I agree - -definitely not the real world and it also shos everyone being EXTREMELY dramatic about everything and they SHOUT ALL THE TIME!!!! Drives me nuts!

Okay, there is good and bad to that. The good is that kindergarteners won't already be cussing and all that at such a young age. They have charactors to look up to; a channel to watch. It is good entertainment for them, and also clean and fun.I actually don't see a bad side, seeing as they will all adapt to whatever life throws at them as they get older. My guess is the ones that watch cartoons like "Rugrats" and "Mickey Mouse" will turn out better than the ones that watch "South Park" and "Family Guy". The truth is, they set themselves up for the real world, entertainment does not. It is just a fun way for them to spend their TV time. =)Hannah

Yes I do. Kids should have dreams and Disney is great at weaving them. You grow up all too soon and see the starker side of reality no matter what so why not let the young have their pipe dreams.

I think the Disney Channel is something for entertainment only. I personally think that they should have more educational programs. Children are fascinated by the creativity of Disney but how is that helping when knowledge is concerned? Also, just to make a note: A lot of Disney movies have a lot of hidden messages (unfortunately they are very bad messages). Kids catch a lot through their subconscious; we must be careful and recognize the underlying messages of things.
