My husband and I decided last night we were going to take a break from TTC for a variety of reasons....we'd like to first give my body a break from our loss in November and we'd also like to take a family vacation to Disney World this summer before our son heads into kindergarten. We feel waiting would give us time to do a few more things before expanding the family. Question is....have you ever taken a break from TTC? Why? How did you feel about it? Did you get back into TTC when you thought you would?I am feeling good about our decision, but wonder if 6 months down the line we will still feel the same...will we just get too comfortable being "just the three of us"?

FYI some people that take a break, end up pregnant because the pressure and stress are gone. Good for you for focusing on the two of you and your family for a while longer and even though you won't be trying.... baby dust to you anyways because what wants to happen, will happen.

Hi there! My hubby and I have been TTC for 2 years now. We're not taking a 'break' really, but we've decided to just live our lives and try not thinking about it too much. We just planned a cruise for next September. If I get pregnant, that trip will obviously be canceled! But we'd just go on an earlier cruise. But my point is, we're just trying to not plan things so much. And now that the trip is planned, watch us get pregnant! lol Life is always funny like that!

In Feb 06 I had a D&C following a m/c. Right after that my mother-in-law got sick...but she got a little better. In July 06 my doctor put me on Clomid so we could try a little 'better.' In Sept my MIL fell ill again. And-we had to take care of her. I wanted to give her our full attention...so we took a small break from TTC.Meaning...I went off Clomid...we quit using opks...and so on. Unfortunatly she passed away 10/06. We have not been giving it 100% commitment...but the thought...and dream of a little one has never been far from our minds. We have a 9, 10, 11 year old at home...and we know we are blessed. (though none that are 'ours.')Sometimes...when we do something memorable...we think about how we would have missed it if we had a baby...OR how cool it would be to experience it with a new little one.Take your break. Make sure you are both okay with it...and be honest with each other. That might help, too!

My husband and I took a break... now I'm 20 weeks pregnant. I think sometimes breaks are what actually help people that are actively trying to get pregnant. All of the stress and pressure are gone, and you end up just having sex to for the enjoyment of it. Good luck with whatever you do, and have a great time with your vacationing.

My husband and I have been ttc for almost 5 years. Never even been pregnant. Even tried IVF. Actually our IVF was so perfect the doctors thought it would happen. They are puzzled. Therefore, throughout these 5 years we have taken several breaks. The breaks are great because we can just enjoy "us". Neither of us has children, so I do not know if you will get comfortable being just the 3 of you, but for us we want a family so the break was just that, a break. A time to relax, let my body take a break from the medicine and just have fun sex, not timed sex. Of course I have to admit each month I secretly hope that by some miracle something happened on its own. LOL. As far as getting back to TTC-after a few months I would tell my husband I was ready again and he would say OK. Or vice versa. If you have a good open relationship, you will know when you are ready to try again.

Well we didn't really take a break I guess you can say but we have been TTC for over 2 years with 1 miscarriage and 1 ectopic preg and 5 surgeries total in those 2 years. So needless to say every time the doctor would mention clomid(after I lost my tube) I would have to have a surgery and that would delay us at least 3 months and then something else would go wrong! So...... I did some research bought a clear blue easy fertility monitor and was supposed to start clomid(FINALLY) in November, Well we decided to not jump into talking clomid just yet we wanted to just wait until after the crazy holidays and I just found out I am preg! I guess all the stress was gone because we had everything at our fingertips whenever we would have like it and decided to wait and see what happened and it happened when we least expected it. So ...GOOD LUCK and I am sure as soon as ya'll take "YA'LL'S BREAK" It will happen because it is when ya'll will least expect it !!!!!BABY DUST TO ALL TTC!!!!
