Default I don't understand anything about investing. I would like to invest in something that would help me and my fam

I would like to invest money in something that would help me make money. I don't have a study job. But I would like to invest a little of my tax money in something so I can take my children to Disney World someday. I would also like to know how much money I can invest to make money. And how soon after I put money down on an investment, would I start making money? I really need to know how all this work.

I second the above. Seriously, you're just gonna get a bunch of BS here that you should not trust.

Put your money in a mutual fund. Use a fund screener such as yahoo. financial and look for no load and minimum investment. You can either get the returns of the fund in a dividend check or reinvest them. I did this with my first paycheck I earned, it was less than 100.00, in a emerging growth fund. Thirty years later it is worth 11, 200.

I would go to the Yahoo Finance link and then click on Investing. From there you can go to Education and it has a lot of information on how to begin investing. Also, the Motley Fool section of Yahoo Finance has a lot of good information. My word of caution would be to resist the temptation to make some quick bucks because investing takes time. Avoid the temptation to invest in "penny stocks," which are typically stocks trading for less $5. Oftentimes these stocks are easily manipulated and are at that price for a reason. Investing requires some effort at doing your homework before you invest.Mutual Funds may be another investment tool to consider. Check the Yahoo Finance link for info about mutual funds.Good luck.

Proper investing in stocks really requires a time frame of a few years. I suggest you do some reading before you invest. The best investor in the world and second richest guy is Warren Buffet. It is a good idea to read up on him and follow his philosophy. Try the book Buffetology by Mary Buffet.Anyway good luck, as the old saying goes give a man a fish and he can eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime. Do some research and the rewards will pay off. Good luck with the investing.

Before investing anywhere else, own your own home... it's keyed to inflation - the more the better for the homeowners. Not so great for renters, but your own home's value will appreciate at the same or greater rate than inflation. Then look at Morningstar.com, they rate all mutual funds. Lots of them are good, but they have different values for long term vs short term, liquidity, management fees, etc. Cruise Morningstar.com to get ideas, and look at the public library for books on investments.
