Default WHAT can I take to the airport for my 6mos olds vacation?

Hi, we are going to Florida for 8 days and I have a 6mos old...We are staying in a house and since she doesn't crawl etc, I was wondering what am I allowed to check in at the aiport? She uses her walker and exersaucer etc daily.....I was just wondering if anyone traveled with a baby and took any of their big toys with them? She will be so miserable for a week without anything to do but sit and teeter tot on the floor.... We are traveling with friends and they have 2yrs olds so she wont be safe just sittin on the floor.(I looked into rentals for toys and they are very very expensive)Thanks for any tips you may have for making this trip nice....I use canned formula so I am going to take the can and bottled water..but baby formula is allowed.. ;o)

Bring their favorite toys and some books you can read her. If she gets hungry bring their favorite snack. I don't know if you can take formula on the plane. Ask the security before you get on. If you can feed her milk you can buy it at some places in the airport.I think she can have her own bag for check in. So pack one suitcase up with toys for her. You can check a walker or car seat as a checked luggage.Good luck!

With most airlines you can check 2 bags per TICKETED traveler and they can weigh no more than 50 pounds total...If you have purchased a seat for her then you should be able to check her exersauser and her suitcase...or if you wanted you could check the walker and the exersauser and put her clothes in your suitcase. If you have not purchased a seat for her then your options are limited to packing yours and her clothes together and bringing one or the other big toy.You can take formual on the plane...but if it is already in liquid form they may and can request you drink it in their presense...this is what they did with our son. Most airlines allow you to hold a baby on your lap to avoid you paying to have a seat...this is a very bad idea as it is very unsafe for the child. Most airlines do not allow you to use those items advertised in catelogs that allow you to strap the baby to you...I am not sure why, it just says on the websites to most major airlines that they are not allowed. We have all been thru bad turbulance on airplanes, when you are holding a child you can loose controll of the baby and they can litterally ping pong around the cabin. It is much safer to bring your child in her infant seat (besides you will need your seat once you arrive at your destination anyway). If you don't have the option at this point because you have already purchased your tickets...you can bring the infant seat to the gate check area (with your stroller) and before you gate check ask if there are any extra seats on the plane...if they say yes, they will allow you to bring the infant seat on board and let her be in the extra seat for no charge.Good Luck!http://www.travelingwithkids.com/infants.php

Look into one of the baby equipment rental companies. I'm not promoting this one but using them only as an example;https://babysawayrentals.com/Default.aspThat way, you wont have to fly with anything. If you only rented one or two items, it wouldn't be too expensive. Ask your friends to check out some garage sales if there's time. Exersaucers show up a lot at them and a friends' mom equiped her own home for her visiting grandchildren this way. Have your friends simply ask around. You'd be surprised how long people keep baby stuff in their garage. Have them ask any grandparents with out-of-town grandchildren.Check out Craigslist or Ebay and have it delivered to the house. The exersaucer is okay but walkers are not good for the child's development. My children's orthopedist actually forbid them for my children and my uncle is a physical therapist. If you mention walkers to him, he wont shut up railing on about the evils of those contraptions. ER people hate them too because they are the souce of a lot of injuries. I would especially be careful of using one in a strange place. They're not allowed to be sold in Canada. You could also get one of those bumble seats and see if she'll sit in it and play with toys on a cushin in front of her. A kind of "makeshift exersaucer". But don't rent your carseat. Bring it with you on the plane and try to get a seat for your baby. That and the stroller wont count against your baggage. You could try to check the exersaucer but while the exersaucer isn't heavy, it might exceed the diamentions allowed. Contact your airline for baggage alowance details, which are usually on their sites. Perhaps take it apart and put it in a duffle bag with lots of clothes around it. Be nice at check-in and hope they overlook it if it is oversized. If it contains any battery operated parts, be sure to remove them so it doesn't start squeeking, singing or beebing en route. Security would not be amused. I actually take the batteries out of any checked toys, put them in a plastic bag and tape the bag to the toy so I don't lose them and know which batteries go with which item. I wrote an article for a local newsletter since I'm an ex-F/A who flies transatlantically with my own kids. I've expanded the article and put it on a blog to share. It's entirely non-commercial. I go into details about getting a seat for your child, how to get the seat through the airport, etc. http://flyingwithchildren.blogspot.comHave a good time, whichever solution you work out!

Wot's she gonna do without her exersaucer?! Granted she won't be allowed to exersauce her way down the jetway, but you can at least check it as luggage. Btw, your question reads funny it says your 6mo old's vacation? She has not been working or going to school, all she has done is exersauce, so what's she doing taking a vacation? Anyway, take her stuff 'cos if she's miserable, you'll be miserable. Have fun..
