Default Can I carry my Wii in its original packaging onto a plane?

I just bought a Wii as a gift for a family member. Will airport security make me open the box and take everything out if I want to carry it on the plane?

They could, but x-raying it should be sufficient. Just explain it is a gift for someone you are going to visit.

you might have to repackage it use ups or fed x's to package it and have them send it to your destination

They will very likely make you take it out, just like if you brought a laptop on. I say put it in your non-carry on, and just watch them check that bag, because they will check it.

The last time I took my laptop as part of my carryon luggage, they not only made me take it out, but also turn it on! It all depends on the current "terrorist alert" status at the airport on any given day. Oh yeah, and once without any warning whatsoever, I had to take all my makeup out of my purse and throw it out! No advance warning was given whatsoever regarding the carry on of liquids! If they had warned me, I'd have packed it in my luggage! I don't buy drugstore cosmetics so to replace it all cost over $200! To be on the safe side, personally, I'd bubblewrap it and pack it in your luggage.
