For Spring Break 2008 were planning on goin on a cruise ship. which ship shall i go on?. Royal Caribbean's Liberty Of The Seas in an Interior Stateroom. or Carnival Cruise Lines, Carnival Freedom in a Balcony Stateroom. They are both new and extravegent ships. Which is the best?

For a college spring break i would recommend the Carnival ship. Having a balcony is so much better. I have been on 8 cruises and have had interior, exterior, and balcony cabins. I guess if the itinerary didn't matter then I would go the the Carnival ship to have the balcony. Also, Carnival tends to have a younger crowd on board. More people your age and you will have more fun. They are a little less lenient and kinda overlook some behavior as long as you are not disturbing any other passengers. Have fun, I wish I could go.

I've travelled on both! They are fairly similar in prices and accommodations. Carnival is more family friendly, in that there are literally hundreds of activities for children. I would not recommend an interior room, if you're even slightly claustrophobic. I would definitely take the one with a balcony!

The Caribbean market seems to be aimed at the "older" age group while the Carnival seems to be aimed at the "younger" age group.I have travelled with both...so I guess the answer depends upon your age.If you consider yourself older and wiser ....go with Carribean.Interior rooms are avoidable if you can afford it....but check the exterior room doesnt have a lifeboat blocking your view - some do !

You are kinda asking to compare apples and oranges since you mention a balcony on one ship and an inside on another.I have not been on the Liberty (yet) but I have been on its twin sister the Freedom. Every since the cruise lines increased the number of balcony cabins on ships and lower their prices I will not go on a cruise unless I can have a balcony cabin. The balcony increases the apparent size of the cabin because it usually has a floor to ceiling window with a sliding door; thus your space is multiplied. Then I enjoy ordering room service breakfast and eating on the balcony, vs going to the Windjammer buffet and fighting for a seat. I also enjoy being able to go out on the balcony at any and all times on night to just enjoy the ocean sounds and sights. I do that frequently if I wake up in the middle of the night. I also like the balcony so that I can just be outside, but not in a crowd or noisy area. So I suggest that whichever ship you select, you should select a balcony cabin.I have never been on a Carnival ship and do not think that I ever will. I know that Carnival is the budget cruise line, the line for young folks and party folks and I have also heard that their food selections are not as good as other lines. A balcony cabin on Carnival would not make the difference for me to select it.The Liberty, like the Freedom AND some of RC's other ships like the Mariner and Adventure, has some inside cabins that overlook the shopping mall in the center of the ship. That type inside cabin would be preferable to a true inside that had no window or porthole. But I have never tried one (and never will for the reasons listed about) and do not know if they would be noisy. Certainly you could spend time looking down on the happenings on the mall area. But I would much prefer to be seeing and hearing the ocean.

Liberty of the Seas is about 40% bigger than the Carnival Freedom. It also offers more options. For example, the Liberty of the Seas has a mini water park known as the H2O Zone, it has ice skating and a surfing simulator (the Flowrider). However, as you have noticed, it cost more. The balcony will be nice - if you use it. Also, the Liberty of the Seas does not have a water slide, while the Carnival Freedom does.
