Default Has anyone ever worked on a cruise line? I have a strange but serious question for you.?

I'm talking about like.. a Carnival Cruise to the Caribbean or something.. and there's a dangerous situation like a bunch of escaped convicts or a zombie uprising.. what kinds of weapons are kept on board the ship? Are there guns? If so, where on the ship would they be kept? I'm writing a story and want to be accurate.

there are weapons...but usually they are kept where the captain is. and on some boats there is like 'a cop' for the cruise line and he will carry a gun and stuff '

I'm not sure about weapons on a cruise ship but here's a story for you:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4409662.stmGiven that they didn't return fire might be an indication that there are not weapons on board. But I can't say for sure, I have no knowledge of cruise ship security. You know nothing puts a downer on a cruise holiday like having to share the hot tub with escaped zombie convicts. Good luck with your story.

I dined with the security officer on a cruise. He told me there is only one or two guns and they are locked in his or some other officer's locker. He was upset that they had so little firepower or ability to stop a highjacking.

The cruise lines have increased security on the ships over the past few years, but generally their job is more as bouncers than armed conflict. They have a few small arms stored and locked away for security, but are not generally required. When the ships are in port (at dock) the country where the ship is docked generally provides security. If you have been on a Caribbean cruise lately you will note servicemen with rifles on the docking areas.Due to the size it is rare for a large cruise ship to be confonted with problems while at sea. And all cruise lines check for weapons when boarding passengers so the risk of hijacking is greatly reduced.
