Default I'm traveling to Europe and want to cancel a second leg of flight, can I do this?

My family and I are leaving for Luxembourg in a few weeks. We did one of those Expedia deals where you pick the date but you don't find out the airline until you pay. Well they have us doing a connection flight. So it's Boston to Zurich, then Zurich to Amsterdam (this is where our family said they could pick us up). But it seems that it would be easier for them to pick us up in Zurich and we wouldn't have to do the layover, but Expedia is saying they can't cancel the connection flight and that if we don't show up our flight home will be cancelled. Is there any way around this??

You might be able to pay the airline change fee - depends on what your ticket says. Contact the airline. It is true that if you don't use that second leg, the return flight will be cancelled.

Unfortunately Expedia is right, if your so called "point of turnaround is Amsterdam, you cannot change it to Zurich. I know that it doesn`t seem to make sense, but in general it may be much cheaper flying to the Netherlands than to Switzerland - and it doesn`t matter that you fly via Zurich. If the whole trip is with the same airline and the fare is not too restricted, you should call the airlien and ask them. From my experience Expedia does not care at all for their customers once the ticket is paid for, so they are not going to be very helpful here. But they have to tell you your airline...hope you asked them already...Good luck!
