Default do airlines in america really fly the same flight plan (i.e. delta= 10 flight jfk to atlanta per day) on......

....thanksgiving day, or do they use therefore another flightplan or smaller airplanes (because i assume that not many people will fly that day...)...?

as far as i know the airlines reduce their flight connections. this means, that on holiday days, an airline flies i.e. just 4 time from jfk to los angeles, in stead of 6.......but not really sure about that....

We use the same flight plan same frequency and same number of flights. We have no real extra aircraft or flight crew.. We do have close to 100% ccapacity on all flights on this time period. Because of the extra people on each flight it makes longer to load and unload and to move through the airports. All of this on a nationwide basis add much more time and work load for the available flight crews and check in agents and baggage handlers. Not to mention airport security lines are longer.

The schedules will not change hardly at all on thanksgiving day... they will fly the same airplanes with the same frequencies... you are correct in believing that there are lighter loads on flights actually on the holiday rather than a day or two before but there are still plenty of people flying on the holiday itself... (hence the reason that I was in 5 different cities on Thanksgiving)...
