Default ERAU or DCA?

I'm 20 and an aspiring airline pilot... I was wondering which route is better: to go to Embry Riddle Aeronautical Univ. or Delta Connection Academy?

Please don't go to either. If you follow airlines, then you know how fickle the industry is. If you go to school at one of those places, all you will know how to do is fly a plane. That is not worth much if you've been furloughed. Go to a real college (ie. school that has real degrees, sports teams, etc) get a real education (ie. not aviation, diversify yourself) and do flight training on the side. You will have no trouble getting a cfi position once you possess the ratings, so what advantage do those "schools" have? Some of them may promise you a interview, however they don't tell you that basically anyone w/ a commercial/multi can get an interview wherever they want. Don't waste your money and your education on aviation only. What happens if you get in an accident and your eyes go bad????Edit: Mark is absolutely correct, pilots that go to ERAU, DCA, ATP all have a bad reputation around fellow pilots. Pilots make up a very small group, so whatever you do now will definitely effect your future airline career.

Public universities have a better reputation--especially among pilots.

Get a non-aviation discipline. You never know what will happen during flight training that could end your career before it even starts...hell, you might not even enjoy it 5yrs down the line when you called at 4am to take some suite to Pittsburg on a dark and stormy night...It's good to have a fall-back..

Don't go to either. Go to a normal school and learn to fly at your local airport. It might seems odd but that is honestly the best course of action. ERAU is full of self-important rich kids who are spending daddy's money and will graduate right into a position of nepotism flying his corporate jet. Most of their grads have never even had a job prior to graduating school. DCA is basically full of foreigners who barely speak English and are leaving the country as soon as they get all their ratings anyway. In either case, these are not good people to network with as they have personal interests that do not coincide with yours. If you feel like you must go to a school that specializes in aviation, pick one with a better reputation in the airline world. Look at these schools. They produce far more airline pilots than those other two.The University of North Dakota (shameless plug for my alma mater here)Utah Valley State College (great hiring agreement with SkyWest)Western Michigan UniversitySouthern Illinois UniversityMount San Antonio CollegeOrange Coast College
