Atlanta is a BIG city. By big I mean it seems to spill over into other towns. Everyone who lives around Atlanta - claim they actually LIVE in Atlanta. All I can tell you is my experience with Atlanta. I can also tell you my experience with flying Delta (but that may take forever as I am not happy with the airline). Atlanta weatherwise is nice. Never seen snow down here (so NO snow shovels and salt trucks). Summers tend to be muggy and humid, quite "buggy". Lots of mosquitoes. Winters are chilly. The winter mornings and evenings are the chilliest, you may want to buy a small space heater for your bedroom. The taxes vary according to which county you are shopping in. If you are in the City of Atlanta you end up paying Fulton county taxes and the city of Atlanta taxes (which can be annoying and expensive). There is a lot to do in the city. Lots of great restaurants on Peachtree and in the suburbs (need to discover them). Try and figure out the main highway layout. You have the 75/85 interstates that form a big "X" accross the region of the city. Where they cross is the "interchange". The 400 is called the "loop" it circles the city and contains the "X" within. This is important as you will spend a lot of time in traffic if your commute is even a little bit of a distance. Try and figure out the short cuts and inner roads to get to work. I hope your internship is a good experience and that you enjoy your stay in Atlanta. By the way the Airport is pretty easy once you get the gist of it. It is well organized though they have some construction going on that may back up the traffic occassionally.Good Luck!

Atlanta has a high crime rate, so be cautious and use good judgement, especially after dark. The traffic is terrible, but with Delta, public transportation is easy to use to get there. I worked for them in one of the building across from the headquarters off Virginia Ave. Also there are employee shuttles you can take from the airport to get to all of the Delta offices. I used to just take the Marta bus from the College Park train station though because the buses ran really well with my work schedule. If you dont mind traffic, look for a place to live south of the airport, like in the Fayetteville area. Theres a bunch of people in Fayetteville that work for Delta...you could probably find people to carpool with too. Unless you are really into the city lifestyle, do that. If you are set on living in town, check in areas that are close to the Marta train, so you dont have to deal with over an hour long commute each way. I lived right in Midtown and could make it to and from work in 35-40 minutes each way. As for working for Delta, it depends on your supervisors and managers really. It is your average corporation as far as office politics and rules go. I will mention when looking for places to live, there are some ghetto areas between the airport and downtown that should be avoided.
