When a person is suicidal and flying to another state to kill themselves..where do you turn to for help? I agree with the first answer -- you have already done what you can do - especially with the police. You can check on either the airport's website or the airline's website for whether the plane has landed yet (try the airport first). If the police in Hawai'i get to him, your aunt *can* have him committed to a psychiatric hospital in Hawai'i for at least 72 hours (after that, he can check himself out). They will evaluate him for treatment during that time. She has to instruct the police to commit him - she can do that because she is his "next of kin," but I don't know if they'll need her signature or not.Good luck - I suffer from depression and when my meds don't work I get suicidal, and it's hard to beat that feeling down without help. I hope you have saved his life. Please update your question when you know more, I'll be praying for him (and you and your aunt and his family).-- I just checked, and there were no direct Delta flights to Hawai'i's Honolulu Airport from Charlotte today. There was a 10:03 a.m. flight to Atlanta, and then 2 flights from ATL to Honolulu, neither of which have arrived yet. They are Delta Flt # 1273, expected to land 15:10 (3:10 p.m.) Hawai'i time (8:10 p.m. EST) at Gate 22, and Delta Flt #815, that just took off from ATL at 4:16 p.m. I bet he's on the earlier flight. Maybe call the airport police, too (have your aunt do that) and tell them he may be on Flt 1273 out of ATL. |
