Question about flying Northwest Airlines with infant?

I was wondering if anyone else has flown Northwest with a little one & how strict they are on their stroller carry-on policy. According to their website, umbrella strollers are the only stroller they allow to be stowed when boarding the flight. Has anyone been able to use a regular sized stroller with them? Or is this something that we could get turned anyway for & have to leave our stroller at the airport? I am really hoping to be able to take our regular stroller because of our long layovers, so any help or advice is appreciated!

ask for a baggage claim ticket at the gate. I am not sure what NW calls it but on Delta they are pinks tags.

You can gate check it. Before you get on the plane ask for a gate check ticket. You will put that on the stroller, and leave the stroller at the end of the jetway, right before you board. You will get it back at the same spot when you deboard at your destination, but you might have to wait a little bit before they bring it up to you. Hope this helps.
