Neither praising nor slamming any airline, it is safe to say that lost luggage is not the big problem it used to be. In fact, it is very rare for luggage to be interfered with or put on the wrong plane, now that the security precautions are more stringent in these post 9-11 days.

Been flying SW for years and never lost any. And we always fly standby with lots of layovers because we get free tickets. With all the confusion we go through on a flight we always have our luggage when we get there. Don't worry about it, you'll be okay.We get free tickets because my brother-in-law is an electrical engineer for Southwest and the tickets are part of his fringe benefits.

Actually they used to have a show called airline and i couldnt believe how many problems southwest has like lost luggage, luggage was mistreated and many other problems so i wouldnt dought that happened to you. Also it is sometimes the airports fault to not just the airline.

All airlines lose luggage at some point. My best recommendation to you is to make sure you arrive at the airport to check in and have your luggage checked in a minimum of 1 hour before flight time. Give the ramp guys time enough to load your luggage on to the flight! (Spouse is an 18 year airline employee on the ramp/bag room) Problems come up with people check in their bags inside the one hour timeframe and they try to get it out to the plane and loaded and it gets missed. The other time you may have a problem is when your connection times are short, bags will some times miss the plane if the ground crew does not have enough time to pull all the bags off the plane and bring them to a new plane fast enough.I've lost luggage on all the carriers before, but they always got me the bag within 24 hours of my arrival. I just try to get to the airport early so the ground guys/gals have plenty of time to load my bags.
