I can never find what I want on Southwest's website. I have a puppy that weigh's under 2 pounds. Does anyone know how much it would cost to fly her back with me over Christmas? I'm also not sure if you carry them on or if they have to be stored down below the plane. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can't take pets onto Southwest.Southwest Airlines does not accept live animals in the aircraft cabin or cargo compartment other than fully trained assistance animals accompanying a person with a disability or being delivered to a person with a disability.

South West does not allow animal transport. Continental is the best airline for pets. I brought my dog from England to the States and they were excellent.From what learned, on domestic flights animals can ride in the cabin in a carry case. The rules are strict so best call or look them up to see all the guidelines. You do not want to show up at the airport with your puppy and not be able to take it with you.All the best and congratulations on the puppy!

I do believe the answer is that pets are not allowed on Southwest. Instead of relying on the computer, give Southwest a phone call to verify the information. Their number is 1-800-IFLYSWA. They have friendly operators who will answer your question. No matter which airline you fly, you will have to advise them in advance you are bringing a pet (and pay for it). Airlines only allow a very limited number of pets per flight. If you just show up at the airport with your pet with no notification, the pet is not going to fly.
