Default Southwest?

Has anyone flown with Soutwest? I'm wondering how it was. Also, I checked out their website and they have three different rates, most of the other airlines give me one. What's the difference? Thanks!

In my experience Southwest isn't by any means luxurious, but you get what you pay for. I have flown them many, many times. I lived in San Diego and my girlfriend lived in Tucson. I have never had any problems such as delayed or cancelled flights, lost luggage, nothing like that. Just economy style accomodations. I would recommend them.

I fly Southwest all the time. You will not get a full meal on any flight, but you will always have a happy and friendly flight crew. The different rates are basically this; Business Select: Boarding priority ('A' group), More flight credits, 1.25-2 credits for each flight,Same day changes for free, fully refundable, free alcoholic drink.Business:One flight credit, same day changes for free, fully refundable.Wanna Get Away1 flight credit,Same day changes will incur fare increase, not refundable (BUT you will be able to use 100% of the ticket value on a future flight).

There is little difference between Southwest and most other carriers except that Southwest does not have advance seat reservations. They assign seats only as zones A, B, or C. Zone A gets to board first and gets the best pick of seats, then B, then C. Few airlines offer any inflight service these days, so don't let that concern you. I would not hesitate to fly them again.

Nothing wrong with Southwest. It is usually cheaper than other airlines. There are no assigned seats so you have to get a boarding pass with a letter (A-C) on it. I recommend doing this online and 24 hours ahead of your flight. All the same letters line up and go onboard and claim whatever seat you want. No frills. No food service. They do serve free soft drinks and free peanuts or pretzels. You can buy cocktails, wine, or beer.

Southwest is safe with no frills. That said, it was the worst 4 flights I have ever had in my life where it was not horrendously bad weather (I have had 1 flight that was worse, but there was serious turbulence through the rain). I do not use Southwest unless it is 30%+ cheaper and that rarely happens.

Yes. I'm not going to say that Southwest is bad, because I have an aunt who works there. HOWEVER...you will find that the comfort level and service (to some extent) is lacking compared to other airlines. And if you've heard that they are cheaper, it's a myth. Sure, they advertise $99 dollar flights on TV, but you get to the website, which as you mentioned has 3+ prices, and the $99 one is sold out already. If you manage to obtain the $99, though, you must realize that it is one way, so round trip becomes $198. They also forget to mention on TV that this does not include taxes, which bring the total price of their "$99" special to around $230. If you check out Expedia or Travelocity, you can usually find flights for cheaper than the final price on Southwest. Also be sure to check the individual airlines' websites. Good prices take alot of research, but if you put in the effort, you will end up with an inexpensive nice seat on a comfortable airplane with extra legroom.
