Southwest airlines question? The previous respondents are right, but Southwest is an interesting case: They usually post their flights six months out; but unlike other airlines, their reservation agents frequently DO know about upcoming fare specials.I realize your question deals with the availability of tickets period; but my point is relevant for this reason: Southwest often has marketing 'blitzes' for certain markets; and in anticipation of this, they may hold certain of their route inventories in abeyance. The practical import of this: Ask a reservations agent if there are any upcoming fare specials . . . this will often take you to the answer you need.A case in point: Recently, Southwest had a special "mini-skirt" fare special in response to their PR fiasco in which a mini-skirted woman was asked to leave a Southwest plane. I called for flights to San Francisco, which were not yet available online. The reservations agent not only told me about the upcoming fare special, she told me when they'd be available.Good luck, and Happy Travels!Kango Traveler |
