http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyla_EbbertA story was released today on AOL about Kyla Ebbert, a 23 year old student who was asked to "cover herself up" by Southwest Airlines who deemed her miniskirt offensive to other passengers, getting a gig on Playboy. She also did a promotional for Virgin Airlines with Richard Branson. Her career goal is to be an attorney.Regardless of her academic merit, is she someone that a top 10 law school would admit? Would someone like her be able to get into any top firm? I simply can't see her unemployed in the legal job market. There's nothing wrong with hiring her technically. It just shows that justice isn't quite as blind as it seems.

A law school will take her because they cannot legally discriminate on what someone does for a living and posing nude is not a criminal offense, but a law firm might not hire her, assuming she passes the bar.She is just a young girl that doesn't understand the long-term implications of decisions that seem fun right now.Monica Lewinsky was unemployable for a very, very long time, even though she was extremely intelligent and more than qualified for positions she was applying for. She made a fool out of herself and paid a dear price.

I'm going to venture that someone that takes their clothes off for Playboy because they have five minutes of fame because they were dressed slutty on a plane, is not quite clever enough to be accepted to any law school. I'm not saying that lawyers are the bastions of moral superiority or ANYTHING like that. I'm just saying that most people that go to grad school dont take their clothes off in public for money.

She won't now! You don't get into ivy league law schools, on looks. Matter of fact you don't get in on grades alone either. You have to be someone special. It doesn't have to be president of your senior class, or Rhodes scholar. It could be you organized a group to feed the hungry. Or did summer internship at a community legal advise center, or saved a bunch of whales or trees or some junk. My brother had excellent grades and applied to Harvard and Yale. They respectfully declined.He went on to graduate UT law in the top tenth percentile,and passed the bar in the top 10 individuals.He is now a partner in a law firm in Dallas.So no, big (*)(*)s and blond hair won't cut it.
