Hoping to go to LA in january,(Uk airways strikes permitting) and can anyone tell me if there is any way one can stay with a decent family in that town. There are two of us but we are not keen on sharing hostel accomadation (40s and 50's female and male ) only for a short time and was reccomended globalfreeloaders but my friend tells me they bit suspect so not doing that now and a shared double room in not on. Please can anyone help us?As well as cheap is there any scheme for free accomodation with a family in return for househole chores owhatever?

Depends where do you want to stay LA is huge. But if you want to stay by the beach probably in Venice you will find cheap match box rooms. About $500 a month. They will ask for a month deposit and a month in advance.There is also a motel opposite the Hotel California in Santa Monica that has cheap rooms. I think about $20 per night.Anyway, you will find your way, but the most difficult job to get is waitress, since most everyone wants to do it to have freedom to attend auditions. Good luck and may your dreams come true.However, the coolest place to stay in LA is in West Hollywood by Sunset Boulevard.
