I'm going to visit my aunt and uncle in Phoenix Arizona from Maine on wednesday for february vacation and I've heard so many bad stuff about this airline. They lose luggage all the time. [I only own all name brand clothes]. I'm afraid of flying heights crashing teorrist hijackings and I read that US Airways gets in alot of accidents on wikipedia. I'm 18 high school student and flying alone for the 1st time ever and this is my 2nd time flying period but last time went on Continental.
1. You have more chance of being killed walking outside your front door and being hit by a car.2. You actually have more chance of being eaten by a hippopotamus!Think of it this way a plane takes off every half second throughout the world everyday. And only 6 fatal accidents were reported last year. 6 out of millions!Your odds are pretty good. As for your luggage I would worry too much about that... They will get it back to you in at most a couple of days!
Flying is the worlds safest form of motorised human transport in the world the first being the elevator. Especially since you are flying in the U.S where flying is one of the safest in the world since we are a very developed country. Although I know that even with that info nyou are still problably thinking that you wll still be scared you just have to try not to be. A great way to take your focus off the fact that you are flying is by concntrating on something else. If you have an ipod and if you hae music on it or you can watch a movie turn it up so that you cannot even hear the sounds of the planes engines and just concentrate on that for the duration of the turbulence. I am an extremley frequent flyer and I do that all the time and it really helps to get your mind off of the turbulence. So just remember to be nice and calm when you are flying and try to enjoy it. Remember that a plane is designed to be very safe and stable while it experiences rough air and the wings are designed to flex tremendously plus it is a short flight. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!
How was your flight on Continental last year??If it was alright, no lost luggage, on-time, didn't crash (and, it didn't), why not take them again, and save yourself the greif and anxiety?? Just a thought...
