Default What do I do when I go to the airport?

I have never flown before and I'm flying for the first time ALONE!! I have a short trip and have 2 layovers: Hartford, CT(BDL)>Philadelphia Int (2 hour layover)> Norfolk, VA (ORF)Norfolk, VA> Washington DC (2 hour layover)> Hartford BDL (all US Airways)I purchased my ticket online..I have no clue what to do or expect when I get to the airport. I'm only having 1 carry on bag and NO luggage. I dont know what to do with the layovers either..does the airline tell you where to go or what to do to wait for your next flight? I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! help

since you purchased your ticket on line it is with an electronic ticket. Print the itinerary it will serv as e-ticket. Make sure to bring a government issued photo id and be at the airport 2 hrs prior to departure, incase chages happen you still have time to call your online agent. If terminals are not indicated to your itinerary call directly the airline. You may also do your check in and print your boarding pass tru the airline website.Make sure to reconfirm your flights directly to airline, 24 hrs prior to departure.

Just go to the airline counter for which you are flying..or you can check in outside the airport at the little "kiosk". You will need to show your ID. Once you get your ticket, follow the signs to planes or gates, or whatever. Then u will have to go through the security checkpoint, where u will have to take off shoes and if you have anything other than travel size liquids or creams you will be asked to discard them. You will have to show your ID to the security personnel at the checkpoint. Then once u r done there, proceed to the gate written on your ticket. Go there and wait til they tell you to board which will be in some type of order. When it's your turn to board, go to your seat and stow your baggage in the overhead compartment. As for your layover...if it's a layover (meaning u will be staying on that same plane) you may be given the option of staying on the plane or getting off. If so, they will tell you when to be back on the plane. If it's on a different plane it is actually a "connecting flight"...meaning you will have to get off of the plane and go to the gate of the next plane and wait until they call for boarding. That's pretty much all there is to it. Just make sure you have an ID and you will be fine. Have a safe trip.

Make sure you don't have any prohibited item in your bag. Your flight will be on the monitors it will tell you which check in desk to go to. You may have already checked in on line. It will also tell you which gate the aircraft will be boarding. Follow the signs. Same goes for any layovers.

It's simple. Go to the counter that serves the airline you will be traveling on. You will be given the flight numbers on your tickets for each of the layovers. Get there early to avoid long lines of security. Find the arrival/departure screens and see what gate you're supposed to be at. You'll have to pass your carry-on bag through the x-ray machine. You also have to make sure you have no metal on when you pass through the metal detector. At the first layover, go to the arrival/departure screen and check out your flight number. The information will tell you whether the flight is on time or delayed. It will tell you what gate to go to and when it departs. You will be concerned with the departures since you're the traveler. You only worry about arrivals when you're waiting for someone to arrive. When you know the gate you're supposed to be at, get to it and go through the security again. It's pretty simple. On the way to the gate you'll probably pass various shops and eateries. This is helpful, especially if you get hungry during the layover.Good Luck!

Just relax if you have ANY trouble whatsoever ask someone in uniform (I mean that works at the airport).
