 Do you think one day the U.S will fall into a great depression again?
It's hard to imagine that now, with so much surplus that you can't give away good stuff, but have to send it to the dump. But yes, times will be getting harder. Of course, when you think of what people believe is necessary now, and what people saw as necessary during the Depression, we have a way to go yet.The thing we lack now, which people had during the Great Depression, is a sense of community and of the value of life. Perhaps that will come back.But with modern controls on the economy and modern technology, we should be able to survive pretty well. That is, unless there is some catastrophic event like a nuclear war or a Taliban take-over, which could undermine the whole social and economic system.
