Default Boston and New Haven help!?

How do I go from New Haven, CT to Boston,MA? I'm planning to go from New York(point of origin) to Yale in New Haven to Boston/Cambridge, MA(Harvard) in 1 day? I was thinking Amtrak or the Metro North? Are there other ways? THANKS

Only way to do it is Amtrak, Metro North is a commuter line and does not do inter-city.

Yes you can drive there. Take I-95 East to I-395 then straight up to Boston. Just follow the signs. Not a bad ride if you avoid the rush hours.

You could take Metro North to New Haven from Grand Central. From New Haven you could switch to Amtrak and take that all the way into Boston. This may save you a few bucks vs. taking Amtrak all the way to Boston from Penn Station, but you'd have the transfer at New Haven to deal with.http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/HomePagehttp://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/mnr/index.htmlPeterPan Bus and Greyhound Bus Lines are two other options.http://www.peterpanbus.com/http://www.greyhound.com/home/Hope this helps. Happy travels.

For the trip to Yale, take Metro-North's New Haven Line to New Haven, CT. For the trip to Harvard, take the Amtrak's Acela or Amtrak Regional train from New Haven-Union Station to Boston.Hope this helped. Good luckNative New Yorker

I agree with the other posters; Metro North from Grand Central to New Haven. All trains go through Stamford. From Union Station New Haven to/from Yale campus there are buses. From New Haven you have to take Amtrak. Now, You can also take Amtrak to New Haven, also through Stamford, but you board at Penn Station. This would make the most sense, but the schedules won't be as friendly as Metro North. Do your homework. If budget isn't a worry, take the Acela, at least one-way. You'll like it!
