A friend and I will be visiting Denver, CO for a weekend May. What are the downtown "must sees"? No Car. We're arriving by AMTRAK and staying at Hotel Monaco. We'll have 2 days and 1 night and we plan to take in a baseball game. No other plans yet -- but we're BIG foodies.

Also, check out the U.S. Mint in Denver as well. If you can get transportation to the Springs (Colorado Springs) you have to go to the top of Pike's Peak. You can also see rock formations "Garden of the Gods" as well in the Springs. There are also a few small 'mining towns' from old that are in the Rocky foothills to the W of town. |

A friend and I will be visiting Denver, CO for a weekend May. What are the downtown "must sees"? No Car. The new art museum is pretty cool and definitely worth visiting. If you are foodies, I would avoid all the corporate restaurants downtown. I would suggest Fruition (near Cherry Creek so you will have to take a cab) or Lola in Highlands neighborhood just outside downtown (short cab ride or long walk). They are both good restaurants, check them out on Citysearch for more info. If you like to drink, the downtown area is full of all types of bars and clubs (from dive bars to upscale ultra lounges) so you should be able to find a good place to drink, no matter what you're looking for.

A friend and I will be visiting Denver, CO for a weekend May. What are the downtown "must sees"? No Car. denver has a good train system that may be able to keep you out of the cabs. http://www.rtd-denver.com/Denver is not a gourmet city; it's more about outdoors. The Denver science museum and zoo are outstanding. Great hotel choice, by the way!

A friend and I will be visiting Denver, CO for a weekend May. What are the downtown "must sees"? No Car. Flying Dog Brewery. Free tour, which includes several glasses of free beer beforehand.McCormick's near Coors Field has an excellent happy hour if you're there on a weekday. There's also a really good and diverse strip of restaurants along Alameda in the Washington Park neighborhood (around Downing). You can technically take the light rail to Alameda and walk east (I've done it, and it's pretty far), but it'd probably be best to do a bus or cab directly there.

A friend and I will be visiting Denver, CO for a weekend May. What are the downtown "must sees"? No Car. Within a small rotunda/area in downtown Denver would be:Start with the State Capitol Bldg. where you'll find the Mile High marker on the steps. Denver is the Mile High city so one of the stairway steps has the "1,000 Ft. Above Sea Level" , marking the elevation Denver calls our city by.Cross over to the Denver Public Library (Main Library) where there is a very colorful and giant-sized chair and horse. A great photo-shoot scene!Right by the library, is the Art Museum. Another eye-catching architecture plus look for the giant broom and dustpan. You can then walk to the 16th street Mall for some shopping and try the Chicken Marsala at Maggiano's Little Italy.
