the amtrak employees not smiling. They were saying as part of customer service the employees on the train, being the face of the company should smile...agree or disagree?

Well, the attendants on airlines often don't smile. I don't see how train attendants are any different. It would be nice if they all would smile, but I care more about getting decent service, such as beverages and food, than the look on their faces.

I just suffered an amtrak trip from Florida to NY and back. 26 hours each way on a train. Some of the "conductors" were very rude to people. I for one have a leg brace and not one of them would help me with my bags when I boarded or transferred. I found them to be rather b*tchy!

A smile is free and makes both you and the recipient feel good, so yeah, it wouldn't hurt them to do it.

Yeah it's funny, because they always smile in the ads. But I would prefer no smile, to those fake smiles you get on airlines.Here's a game for you. Look at pictures of people smiling and cover the mouth. Are the eyes smiling?

I suppose like almost 90% of Americans they are not at all thankful for the job they have that feeds their family. There are a lot of people who would give their right arm for a job with Amtrak. It is a union job.We all know that union workers do only as they feel, not as they are told.

worked canadian pacfic rairoad via rail in canada wanted to work on the trains since i was 5 yeah i smiled a lot . never did understand amtrack offered job mid 70s did not feel right , same via rail , both countries built on railways bring them back valid point thank you
