Default Moving with a fish?

I have a 10 gallon tank and the only fish I have in there is a betta and a couple live plants. I'm going to be moving over 700 miles away this coming June and I'm not expecting my fish to be dead by then... I will not be driving most likely. I know that airlines do not allow liquid carry ons, so taking a fish on a plane is probably out of the question (though I don't know how checking one would go...) I really don't have the money to ship it (as much as I love him, I could easily just buy a new one for way cheaper than it'd cost to ship him). Has anyone had experience of this sort? Would a train or bus allow me to take it aboard (though it would be a 20hour trip, a betta can survive without a filter and the likes for that long quite easily). I've emailed Amtrak and am waiting for a response, but I was just curious if anyone else had experience with this.

I just got back from a 450 mile trip with my betta fish; he's done this trip twice now and is still alive and happy.I went to the pet store and got one of the bags they give you the fish in. Filled it partway with the water from his bowl, then put him in. Stabilized him during the trip inside his bowl and wrapped in a towel. Ever 2 hours we stopped and undid the bag for a few minutes to get fresh oxygen in, then we set off again. It might be harder to do on a bus or train though, depending on how much room you have.Good luck!
