Any cheap hotel in new jersey close to The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Staten Island?

The bridge is starting line for New York Marathon 2007 and i want to stay at the hotel in new jersey which is close ( 30 min in bus or MTA is fine) to the starting line.

Check out hotels in linden or elizabeth NJ. Theyre on the other side of the goethals bridge. The verrazano is on the other side of staten island, its on the brooklyn side. However, public transportation from jersey to there is almost impossible.

Not too sure. But the Verrazano Bridge connects Staten Island and Brooklyn it doesn't connect to New Jersey that would be the Bayonne, Goethels and Outerbridge Crossing that do that from Staten Island.

The parts around New Jersey close to Staten Island are rather crappy, though there are lot of those "hot sheet" hotels along Route 1 around Elizabeth.You may spend some money but the Staten Island Hotel (Richmond Avenue....right next to the Staten Island Expressway I-278) may be your best bet.
