Hi - I think £550 may be the best you will find, especially from Scotland. I recently booked a trip to NY at the end of November and am paying £560, that includes a return flight with Virgin and a fairly central hotel in NY. Go onto Trip Advisor.com, they search loads of sites for you and this was the best way. However BA have some great deals on flights at the moment, the cheapest way to do it is get a return flight home at an ungodly hour..... the cheapest flight with them was returning at 6.40am in the morning... try getting to JFK for that time - not fun. Also United Airlines have got some great deals as well. BA and Virgin may also offer free internal flights from Scotland to Heathrow/Gatwick so have a good look on their website.I got my flights with Virgin cheaper by calling after 10pm and going through to the USA call centre. I was quoted about £50 cheaper (although she charged me in USD so make sure you make it clear that you want it in GBP).Happy searching and enjoy NY - it's the best place ever!
