I always use Hotwire for hotels in New York.Just specify 4 stars and either in Times Square or Midtown, and see what comes up. The price range will be around 200/night, but it will be a great hotel. With Hotwire, you can't see the name of the hotel until you purchase it, but you do get to see the area it's in, and what the amenities are (including a pool). It's the best and cheapest way to go for nice hotels, and will definitely be a better price than Hotels.com or Travelocity.com

maybe even try hotels.com. Have fun and be careful, NY is a faster pace than most places, always keep your guard up.

For a suite with a pool in Manhattan...you realize this will be a very expensive room. Keep in mind that the courtyard marriot on hotels.com is way up on 92nd street....not the greatest area in NY. And that runs from 200-500 a night. For a suite you're talking about 1000 a night. Your mom should probably find a travel agent.

Ah, a birthday celebration in the Big Apple! And you want to do it in style, no less. Congratulations! As a New Yorker, I can tell you there aren't tons of hotels with pools because there's such a premium on space. The nice properties that have them tend to be a bit snooty, which might not be consistent with the "festive" atmosphere that goes well with a birthday. But fear not, intrepid birthday traveler, for I have just the spot for you: It's the Hotel Gansevoort in the Meatpacking District. Don't be put off by the name of the neighborhood -- this is one of the hippest, most lively neighborhoods in the city, and it's positively overflowing with nightspots, restaurants and shops . . . all of them perfect for a birthday weekend. As for the hotel, it's one of my "most recommende" venues in the city: Their rooftop lounge is an extraordinary place for a drink, as it offers unparalleled views of New York. The facility is stylish and swank, yet still maintains a youthful energy that really appeals to visitors and native New Yorkers alike. And yes, they do indeed have a pool. You won't be disappointed with this one.Happy Birthday, and enjoy your trip!Kango Traveler
