Default My friend has to g to N.Y. for hip surgery and needs affordable lodging...?

this will be her 3rd hip replacement and it is very specialized surgery. In January she has to go to New York City for the pre surgery examinazition for 5 days. She has everything set up, but when she called to find a hotel the cheapest one she could find was $500 a night. Being from Kansas City this sounds rather outrages to us, although it isn't for N.Y. . She lives on SSI and there is no way she can afford this.I just cant help but think that there must be some kind of accomadations for people in her situation. The hospital was no help, they have their own lodgings for $400 a night, jeeze! Can someone help... point us in the right direction... If she doesn't get this surgery she will lose her leg.

There are 983947958729817439857 hotels in NYC and many MANY have affordable rooms.Depends on when she's coming, where she needs to stay (where the hospital is?) and how many people are coming with her.Hotels.comExpedia.comGood luck.

I have had good experiences with travelocity as far as finding good rates. If possible try not to stay in Manhattan as that is where the prices will be wild.

There is a place specialized in finding affordable lodging for cancer patients in any city in the US. Try contacting them, since i have not heard they turn down other kind of patients seeking other medical treatments.http://www.joeshouse.org/Lodging/tabid/54/Default.aspx?State=New%20York

hiii!i live in nyc and my boyfriend moved here 5 years ago from kansas city, so i know how outrageous the prices must seem to you. keep in mind these prices change depending on what day of the week and what season she's coming to visit.first try the chelsea hotel; i know they start their prices at $99-300 a night. you might want to look into hotels in less tourist-y sections like the lower eastside, lower westside, and greenwich village. if you look in popular visitor places like times square and midtown, the prices will cost more. the days inn has rooms for about $140 a night. if you needs the price lower than that, he/she should consider staying at hotel in outer borough near whichever airport she's flying into (LaGuardia or JFK) and taking a cab back and forth to the hospital at 25 dollars a pop. that'll save a lot of money and its easy, but someone should travel with her since he'll/she'll be recovering from surgery.i put in links to everything below. i hope this helps!
