December 24-January 2nd...Hotels are extremely expensive during this any alternatives any at all?

we stayed at the Affinia last year for under two hundred, this year it is four hundred ... prices have skyrocketed even from last year, it's crazy

You should try using the online booking sites. But to honest going during that time of the year is the busiest. I work for a Marriott and I can't even get in under the employee rate at that time.Sorry and good luck.

Try http://www.couchsurfing.com/The service is free. You sign up and search for people offering up an extra room or a couch in your favorite city. The site has TONS of great reviews. Check it out, it can't get cheaper than that. I have not tried the service yet.
