Question about Reno, Nevada for the winter!? I lived in Reno from 1992-1999 - one year it snowed right before Christmas in the mountains and then flooded on New Years Day (1997) in the city. The majority of the downtown area (where all the casinos are) was affected. If the storms are powerful enough to get over the mountains, then yes, it could snow. And if does, they frequently shut down I-80 and Hwy 50 too. Saw that happen many times when Reno didn't get any snow, just Tahoe and the Truckee area.Reno is at approx. 4500 feet, so if you hear the snow level is falling below that, that's when Reno could get snow. It won't halt the city especially if you're just staying downtown and walking around. Just be prepared that the interstate could close for a bit if that does happen. |
