Default Are their any nice hotels in Los Angeles for cheap? and are they expensive?

I'm going to L.A to visit a friend of mine and I don't know wich town in L.A. he lives in but i would like to know how exspensive L.A. is. I live in california myslef but I live in the Central Valley and it thought it would be differnt their then it is here the prices.

There are some hotels in the Jewelry District right in the center of downtown which are affordable.
