Is the Marriott Orlando World Center Resort nice? The values are geared more for families and groups. I guess you could consider them cheap looking and a little tacky. They are meant to be fun with color and larger than life. I've only stayed at each one once, just to see what they were like. You still get a clean room and the great Disney service and all the added benefits of staying onsite, but other than that they don't offer much, very basic, mostly for people just wanting to stay in the rooms.Personally, I don't think the moderates are tacky. I think they are pretty comparable to some of the offsite resorts and I don't think they really look cheap either. Price wise, you can get them for around $145 or so a night. I always stay at the deluxes, they are great, plus the added benefits over offsite resort are a lot nicer as well. You can get Animal Kingdom and Wilderness for around $215 and I think the cabins only run around $250, even Swan and Dolphin are around $250. If you are wanting to save money on just the room, you are better off doing a room only. You can AAA rates and everything to bring the price of the room way down. But, if you do a package, your tickets and everything will be included, there are few extra little things included and you can also get the dining included. If Disney offers a promotion for your dates, that can really help with costs as well. If I am going to be spending a lot of time at Disney, staying onsite is not even a question for me. As far as your hotel, if it is the one I am thinking of, I stayed there a while back. I've stayed in so many hotels since then that I can't remember much about the hotel, but if it is the one I am thinking of it is a little ways away from Disney. It's only a few miles, but the traffic in front of the convention center can be pretty heavy and just trying to get out of the resort parking lot can take a while. You are right by i-drive, which is nice since you have options for dining and things, but walking to most things might be your best choice. I know I stayed at some resorts near the convention center, but I can't remember all of the ones I have stayed at. But, I know that the traffic by the convention center can be bad, especially on weekdays, that would be a general complaint about the area, also, traffic on International Drive can be pretty bad as well. Not sure if the hotel offers shuttle and/or if you are used to driving in heavy traffic, but it can get pretty crazy.I've included a link to some reviews of your hotel for you to look over.If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me, I love to help. |
