Default What airport to fly into?

We're going on a cruise out of Miami Florida in May 08, and going down a day early. Flights to Fort Lauderdale are cheaper, as are the hotel rooms. Should we choose Fort Lauderdale, or Miami to fly into? Is getting to the port a big problem from 25 miles away at Ft. Lauderdale?

OMG!!! Miami is much closer to the port, the taxi will cost an arm and a leg from Fort Lauderdale, you didnt say how much cheaper the hotel and airfare is so its hard to tell. If you are considering staying at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale you could call and ask them the same questions, some hotels have shuttles for their guests. Whatever you do make sure you try the Cuban food while in Miami, especially the cafe con leche if you drink coffee. And next time you book travel try www.findvacationsonline or www.wiitravel.com for great rates.

I have flown into Ft lauderdale on 3 separate occasions when cruising out of Miami. The flights are always cheaper and transportation not expensive. The Cruise ships offer transportation ( I think it was $40 RT). We tried this the first time and taking a bus involved a long wait and crowed conditions. We also rented a car thru enterprise , since we also came in a day early, which allowed us to drive around the beaches in Ft Lauderdale. Enterprise has a drop off near the cruise terminal and will drop you off and pick you up at the boat. You have to reserve 2 one-way rentals but for a family of 4 it was $38 each way and way cheaper than doing the transportation.provided by the cruise line. When we cruised in October out of Miami we take the shuttle that leaves from FLL. It was 18 each way, dropped us off and picked us up at the boat. On the way there we were 2 of 6 people on a 10 passenger van, and going back it was filled but comfortable. With so many people going to the dame place there wasn't that long of a wait for an additional van.If you can get a cheap flight into Miami do it, but trust me, flying into FLL was no hardship and works very well with Miami cruising. Have fun
