I live in Vancouver. I can only comment on that city. Honestly, if you are budgeting how much time to spend in each of the two cities, you should plan on spending more time in Vancouver than Toronto, as there is far more to do here than in Toronto. Some of the cheap Vancouver hotels that you can check out are Budget Inn Patricia Hotel, Vancouver Centre Travelodge, Biltmore Hotel, City Center Motor Hotel, Days Inn Vancouver Metro, Bosmans Hotel, Howard Johnson Hotel Vancouver, Coast Vancouver Airport Hotel, Dominion Hotel and the Greenbrier Hotel. There are also budget hotels and backpackers hostels, some of which are not recommended. Be aware that you get what you pay for. You may wish to check out the following Web links:http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g154943-Vancouver_British_Columbia-Hotels.htmlhttp://www.canadabudgethotels.com/vancouver_hotels.htmhttp://www.thebackpacker.net/travelhostels/canada_vancouver/index.htmhttp://www.tourismvancouver.com/visitors/http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/visitors.htmOne of the best of the cheaper downtown hotels is Days Inn - Vancouver Downtown. You can view a short description at: http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/Booking/check_avail?brandCode=DI,MQ,HJ,KG,RA,SE,TL,BU&sear chWithinMiles=25&areaType=1&destination=Vancouver& stateName=British%20Columbia&state=BC&countryName= Canada&country=CA&checkInDate=11/08&numberAdults=1&numberRooms=1&checkOutDate=11/09&numberChildren=0&rateName=Best%20Avail&rate=000 &id=04088&propBrandId=DI&force_nostay=falseIn terms of what to do in Vancouver, well, the Tourism Vancouver Web site provides much of the information that you need. If I had limited time, I would make sure that I visited the following: Stanley Park, Granville Island, Gastown, Chinatown, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain. Of course, you can spend many days exploring the city, but you should be able to fit all of those attractions in within three days or so.Enjoy your visit!P.S. It takes at least three hours to get from Downtown Vancouver to Downtown Calgary (including about 1.5 hours of actual flying time), so, although it would be possible to make a day trip to Calgary, you would probably have only eight hours of sightseeing time in Calgary before your return flight to Vancouver, and it would be a very long, grueling day.

I would suggest you look in this site: www.Tripadvisor.comThere you will find hotels with reviews. I really recommend it.
