There is a wonderful hostel in Vancouver I stayed at last year, not far from the harbor and Stanley Park, which I would recommend. This is not your college type hostel as a great deal of families stay here. You have a full kitchen at your disposal, security, parking, game room and they even give you breakfast in the morning! Since you are traveling as a family you can request a private room. If you book make sure that you are staying at the BURNABY street location as the other hostel is nearby and CRAZY! I stayed at the other one also and do not recommend! Happy travels!
